Thanks to Kenneth for making this banner.

    GamerX Fighting Leagues(GFL)

    Introduction:
Hello everyone, and welcome to the GamerX Fighting Leagues (GFL) forum thread. GFL is an event created to determine who are the best fighters in GamerX, and with which weapon. This event has no true end or start date, it is continuously on-going and the Leaderboard may change on a weekly or daily basis!

    Basic Summary:
(Purpose: This section is to be read to summarise the entire thread, so read the other sections first and this last) If you read all that, and you didn't quite understand parts, here is a basic summary... This is a fighting competition, it's real easy to compete, just tell me which League you'd like to participate in, and then tell me when you want to challenge the next ranked opponent, I'll handle the rest! I will message you and notify you when you get challenged by another player, so get ready to defend your Rank! And I wish you all the best in your race for glory to the infamous #1 Rank.

    GFL Website:
The GamerX Fighting Leagues has a dedicated website...
    http://www.discoloured.co.uk/index.php
Once you have declared your interest in joining one of the leagues, you'll have an account created for you on the website, and details of your login credentials will be private messaged to you.

    GFL in a nutshell:
GFL is formed of 2 Leagues, each league split into two Divisions. Players will take part in a League, and will challenge players that are ranked higher than them to a duel. Whichever player wins, will be awarded the rank that was being challenged, and the player who loses will go down to the challengers rank. So for example; if a player is rank #5, and they want to become rank #4, they will challenge the player at rank #4, and if they win they will go up to the fourth rank position, if they lose they will remain at their current rank (#5 for this example).

    Leagues Explained:
A league is split into two divisions, and each league differs by one thing: the weapon used. Currently there are two leagues, a running weapons league, and a walking weapons league (more may be added, such as a specialist 'deagle' league for people who consider themselves to be professionals with a deagle). For example; a player is good with running weapons, and wants to take part in the running weapon league, they will enter the league at the lowest rank, and work their way up the ranks. If they are the best running weapon fighter, they can prove it by competing and becoming #1 rank!

    Divisions Explained:
Leagues are split into 2 divisions as aforementioned. The lower (newbie) division is known as the 'Pro Division' which is for all competitors who are not in the top 10 rankings. The top 10 ranked players in the League will be promoted to the 'Masters Division' which is only for the best fighters in the league. If you are ranked #10, and get challenged and beaten by a player in the lower division (Pro Division), then you'll be relegated to the lower position and they'll be promoted to the high division (Master Division).

    Ranks Explained:
The higher your rank is in a particular League, the better you are (the higher up you are on the leaderboard). Ranks are linear and not shared amongst players, so there will not be more than one player at rank 6 (as an example), same goes for the top position, rank #1. When players compete in the fighting league, the aim is to move up to the #1 rank position, to prove that they are the best fighter in GamerX.

    Challenging Players:
To move up a rank, you must challenge the people higher than you. So for example; you are ranked #7, the event regulations permit you to challenge the two next players higher up than you, so you can either challenge the player in the #6 position, or challenge the player in the #5 position. You may wonder why you'd challenge #6 rather than #5, but it's all about tactics, and you may consider your odds to be better if you fight #6. After all, losing a fight can damage your changes of moving up the league (read more about this in the regulations section). Whilst you challenge players ranked before you, players behind you can challenge you, and take your ranked position, so you must defend your position as well as strive for higher positions. When challenged, you must defend your position, or forfeit and be automatically moved down to the challengers position.

    Rules & Regulations:
    • C-Bug allowed (bugs take skill to do well, therefore allowed).
    • 2-shot bug allowed.
    • Only 10 competitors in the 'Masters Division'.
    • Each fight is carried out with the /duel command.
    • The player being challenged must be the one to use the /duel command.
    • Defending your rank/position is mandatory, otherwise you forfeit your position/rank by default.
    • All challenges/fights will be organised by an 'event coordinator'. So let them know when you want to fight your next opponent.
    • You may only challenge another player if that player is one or two ranks above your own rank.
    • Since there is no official end date to this league (it is continuous), prizes will instead be awarded after each ranked match.
    • The ranked position which is being challenged determines the prize you get, so if you are challenging the #1 ranked player (the best!), and you win, the prize will be much larger than if you win a ranked match to gain the #15 spot (as an example).
    • When a player is challenged, 3 duels will take place, the player who wins two or more of the duels will be the winner of the ranked match.
    • You may compete in only one League.
    • You may get challenged by multiple people in one day, and you may challenge multiple people per day
    • When challenged by another player, you must fight them within 3 days or forfeit the match.
    • If you win another ranked match after being challenged, but before fighting your challenger, you will no longer have to fight your challenger if the outcome of your last ranked match meant you was far enough away from your challenger on the leaderboards.
    • When a ranked player challenges another ranked player, if the challenger wins, the challenger takes the other players position/rank, and the other player is bumped down a position/rank (having a knock on effect to the rest of the leaderboard below).
    • If an unranked player challenges a ranked player, if the challenger wins, the challenger becomes ranked (Takes the other players position/rank) and the loser gets bumped down a position (and someone, potentially the player getting challenged, will be dropped from the table IF capacity is full).
    • Every ranked match should be officiated by an event coordinator, unless agreed between the competitors and a coordinator before hand that they can fight and then inform the coordinator of the result afterwards.
    • You can't fight the same player twice in one day, so you can not challenge someone who previously challenged you that day and won.
    • Once you have had your first /duel in the ranked match, you must have the other (and possibly two, depending on the results), or forfeit.
    • If both opponents are ingame, they must fight. A match may only be postponed if the challenge was made when one of the fighters weren't ingame, and unavailable to participate at that time.

    Regulations Explained:
You may consider it weird that there is a waiting period for challenging players. This regulation is put in place otherwise people may just challenge spam the players ranked before them until they finally win and move up a rank, which I see as a serious flaw in the whole system, so a waiting period must be put in place.
It may be considered weird that you can only challenge the two people ranked before you, but if this regulation didn't exist, the person at #1 rank position would just be spammed with challenges and nobody would bother challenging for the lower ranks, so I think it makes more sense that you have to work your way up the ranks one duel at a time.
The player being challenged should be the one to pick the weapons used, since he is defending his position/rank, so that is why it is the player being challenged that must use /duel.

    Entry Requirements:
    • 500 Score minimum
    • Be an active player
    • If a league is at full capacity, you can still enter by challenging the lowest ranked player and taking their place.

    Prizes:
    • Pro Division ranked match - 5k, 1 cookie, the challenged rank
    • Master Division ranked match...
      • #10 - 10k, 2 cookies, Become rank 10 (or remain, if you was challenged and won)
      • #9 - 20k, 3 cookies, rank 9
      • #8 - 30k, 4 cookies, rank 8
      • #7 - 50k, 5 cookies, rank 7
      • #6 - 75k, 6 cookies, rank 6
      • #5 - 100k, 7 cookies, rank 5
      • #4 - 150k, 8 cookies, rank 4
      • #3 - 200k, 9 cookies, rank 3
      • #2 - 300k, 10 cookies, rank 2
      • #1 - 400k, 12 cookies, rank 1, have permission to wear the '#1 Ranked Fighter' bar in your signature (See the Leagues thread for the bars).

Note: Prizes may seem small, but remember that prizes are given PER MATCH, and you could win many matches, so that will be many prizes!

    Definitions/Terms:
"Ranked match" - 3 fights, and whoever wins more fights will move up a rank. Every time you challenge another player, it is considered a ranked match, since the outcome will determine if you move up a rank or not.
"Challenge" - When you challenge a higher ranked player to move up to their rank.
    "League" - The weapon type.
"Division" - Skill level (Pro Division is the lowest division, Master Division is for the best fighters.... more divisions may be added).
"Rank" - Your position on the Leaderboard in the League you are competing in. When a player challenges another player, it is for their rank, so when player ranked #14 challenges player ranked #13, the winner will be at rank 13.

    To enter:
Message me in game and I'll add you to the Leaderboard/Roster. You must tell me which League you'd like to compete in. Alternatively, you can apply by posting in this forum thread, and you must give your in-game name (so I can check to make sure you meet the score requirement).
Once you're a part of this event, I will notify you of when you receive challenges from other players, which you must fight. You can then message me and tell me when you're ready to fight your next opponent (the two people ranked before you, you can pick from those two)... remember you have a waiting period between fights when you are challenging someone.

Note: By entering, you automatically agree to all the rules and regulations.

Note: The start of this event may be odd, since there is no official start date, it is just a continuous event, and since nobody is ranked yet, it is hard to know how to have a ranked match from nothing, but just let me know when you're ready to fight and I'll organise the rest

    Event Coordinators:
    • DiscolouredFrog

    Simplified:
Think of this event like a football championship/league. There are different football leagues, if a team does badly, they get relegated. All teams compete to become the best.
This event is similar to that, there are different leagues and divisions, you compete in specific leagues, and the rank you are and the division you're in will tell people how good you are as a fighter. The only difference here is that football teams all compete against each other, but you can only fight people that are a few ranks before you (when you're challenging them), or a few ranks behind you (if they are challenging you).

    Thanks:
    • Kenneth - for designing the banner and signature bars.

    News:
    • 19/06/2016 - New regulation added, that you must fight someone who is challenging you within 3 days or forfeit.
    • 19/06/2016 - Changed regulation, when you lose a ranked match, the waiting period is now only 1 day.
    • 19/06/2016 - Changed the regulation regarding leaderboard movement:... OLD: When you challenge a player and win, you swapped positions on the leaderboard. NEW: When you challenge a player and win, you bump them down a position and take their position (possibly having a knock on effect on other players on the leaderboard).
    • 20/06/2016 - Added a regulation stating that each ranked match must be officiated by an event coordinator, so that they can confirm and update the leaderboard results. However, players can try to arrange for the fight to happen without the need for a coordinator if they both agree and inform the coordinator of the result after.
    • 21/06/2016 - Added 'no rematch' regulation, where you cannot fight the same player twice in one day. Also added the 'No exit after start' regulation, where both players must carry out all duels within a ranked match once the first duel has taken place, or forfeit.
    • 25/06/2016 - I have been working on a website to help manage the event, it is nearing completion. I have added a new rule which means a fight may only be postponed if one of the fighters is unavailable at the time the challenge is made.
    • 25/06/2016 - Removed the 'Cannot challenge than 1 person a day' regulation. The 'No Rematch' regulation is sufficient.

There is only two leagues at the moment, walking weapons and running weapons. Sniper is technically a walking weapon, so I'll add you to that roster. The choice of weapon is up to the person being challenged, so when someone challenges you, the choice of weapon is all yours, so feel free to pick Sniper if you wish.

REMINDER TO ALL: I will help organise all the fights, so don't worry about that, but please help me out a bit by letting me know when you wish to challenge your next opponent, as I'll struggle to organise everything otherwise. You should be partially responsible for your own progress up the leaderboard and not rely on me to remember to set you up with your next opponent, you must remind me.
