Promoting would be like these:
Read more and subscribe to our website for more helpful guides -> link
or like this:
Please give me thanks and reputation in my user from the original post -> link
or like this:
Join this server also it has helpful guides -> link
Now these are examples for not promoting:
Original source -> link
or like this (in case the thread was not made by you):
Credits & Thanks to this website -> link
If you didn't, you might just copy pasted it from there and didn't give the source and just claiming it as yours, while they might complain here after looking the content being copied.
I think i've mentioned clearly where to post it (did i say PM?). Not that i mention you are copying but since you use different names (and you didn't even mention the name) and just want to PM it, i know it's for privacy but at least give source address, be a good writer. Because recently, one of our Trusted Player shared a video guide and claimed it was created by him (and not mentioning the original source), then the original video creator came registering on this forum complaining on the thread.
It's helpful enough however, you need to update the guide since it's kinda outdated.
Plus, there is no more "xOP", it was the feature in old IRC daemon server, the IRC.TL server is now using InspiIRCd, therefore the basic commands and manual should be already officially documented here:
Since you will just need the User Reference, then the useful links are below:[10:37:14] Your host is foco.ca.irc.tl, running version InspIRCd-2.0
However the guide from irc.tl website should be helpful enough already since we are just using that network.
If you want to know more about IRC
I meant, if I tell the source openly here, it's sort of promotion, indirectly, so that's my point, wasn't certain about how staff here felt about it.
Also I think probably some players from here will recognize it, that's why I said to contact me at that specific server and ask.
And different forums got different policies, some are strict about that promoting other server rules, but I wanted of course to tell the source, it's not about I'm hiding it, out of politeness I didn't type it, wasn't to hide, but I can undertand if you doubt me, since you don't know me, but I'm the proud author of this work and other guides, I like doing them.
Okay, I understand why you want me to post it, no problems.
I'll post the link in all my guides here.
Thank You for the link.
Feels like you're pointing out that my guide isn't needed, but not all are advanced users like yourself (obviously) and know about these stuff, I just thought that it might help some to have commands gathered and simplified, since not all know where to look, at once place and some features.´
I like criticism though, if it's given in a good constructive way, so thanks for your input.
And it was fun to see other people here appreciated it.
EDIT: I changed a lot in my post.

Well I don't think you should worry about the fact that it is "outdated" as it contains basic commands that are available to the players. Most likely the people who will consult this tutorial are newbies therefore I don't think you have missed out anything on that agenda. Overall it's a nice tutorial so don't worry about it lacking something, this information is enough - some of the stuff you said is rarely used or even known by many players so it is fine. Here's an example:
I doubt a player would know what that is, let alone even understand it in the first place (since it's not needed). Most common command usages have been listed and explained so that should be good enough in itself.there is no more "xOP", it was the feature in old IRC daemon server, the IRC.TL server is now using InspiIRCd
What Robo is trying to tell you is, citing the source of your information is good, I know you are saying it's "indirectly" promoting the brand, however regardless of that, it is not your intention and you are simply linking "where" you got the source from.

Brilliant Work! Outstanding! Keep it up.. That's best guide.
However i just remember that there is an equivalent feature like xOP called flag "TEMPLATE", check it out in /cs help i don't remember correctly the usage.
I'm also informing this to him so he could also update his original post since it's on the same network.
If it's his work then he should mention the name he used in that other forum, not hiding it from public.
Well, don't mind alot about that now as it's already solved... You could find out the "TEMPLATE" in /cs as i'm pretty sure it was like xOP.
My point of making this originally was that it could help others to have fun with IRC and if you have useful information at one spot it's more handy.
And good point Eliteus, also I've now removed xOP completely from this guide and some other commands, perhaps better to not confuse anyone.

Added info about a quite fun irc.tl BOT, cloud bot which was added, you type commands and can have it say funny words or so and interact with other users, it's used in IRC channel, simple to use, check at Games and BOTs section.
