You're probably running an unsupported version. From the website Burnedgrass linked:

• SA-MP requires GTA:SA (DVD game for PC) v1.00 US/EU.

Version 2.0 of the game can be downgraded to 1.0 with this patch:

Yes it is. He installed it ( i think ) and he is now getting a crash or it starts single player.

I'd that problem when i was Noob in gamerX. it's not SA:MP Problem, It's you GTA_SA!
You Have to install new Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas. Which hasn't Missions sounds( Voices and normall peds speak sounds )
Or just try to install CLEO v4.3(Try to install Cleo before installing GTA SA, if it didn't work, you must to buy new Gta sa DVD Disk...
